Sean Salinas

Director of Percussion Studies
Sean Salinas is a Drummer, Percussionist & Educator from Houston, Texas who is currently a Director of Percussion Studies in the Spring Independent School District. Sean coordinates the Percussion Programs for nationally recognized Westfield High School and Wells Middle School, while serving as Percussion Advisor at Claughton Middle School. He has also taught the former Bands of America National Champion Spring High School and the 7-time DCI World Champion Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois . Sean was a Drumline Instructor at Texas State University for five years and also marched in the notorious 17-time Percussive Arts Society National Champion University of North Texas Drumline under the direction of Paul Rennick.
Mr. Salinas earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Texas State University studying under Austin Symphony Principal Percussionist Genaro Gonzalez. Sean has studied privately and participated in master classes from Dave Weckl, Jim Chapin, Steve Houghton and Robert Van Sice.
Sean marched with The Cavaliers under the direction of James Campbell and Bret Kuhn for five seasons before joining their staff, and most recently performed with Cirque du Soleil’s KA and Zumanity in Las Vegas for the past three years. Sean can be heard on National Geographic’s World’s Toughest Fixes with Cirque du Soleil’s KA. He has recorded and toured with numerous bands regionally and nationally, recorded Jingles which received national airplay and also played at the SXSW Music Festival for five consecutive years.
Sean Salinas proudly endorses Innovative Percussion, EVANS drumheads and is a member of the Percussive Arts Society. Sean resides in Spring, Texas with his wife Christi and their two beautiful daughters.
